Thursday Night Time Trial Training Ride
(It's just a clock in the Park!)
| Ride Info | Meeting Place | Hulls Cove Visitor Center Parking Lot | ||||
| Meeting Time | 6:00 PM (first rider off at ~6:15) | |||||
| Event Timing | Everyone keeps their own time (there is no event timer and no posting of results) | |||||
| Weather Cancellation | With an emphasis on safety, the ride will be canceled in the event of rain or an imminent electrical storm. If the weather is questionable before the start, check with the Bar Harbor Bike Shop [(207) 288-3886] for ride information. If the TT is canceled due to weather, the following week we will ride the course that we missed on the canceled week. | |||||
| Staging | Riders are staged at one minute intervals | |||||
| Courses | The Long Course | An out-and-back ride from the Visitor Center to Seal Harbor and back to the Visitor Center. This is a challenging course with lots of climbing. (~19.5 miles) | ||||
| Alpe d'Ed | A ride from the Visitor Center up to the top of Cadillac Mountain. The name of the course is derived from the infamous Tour de France climb (Alpe d'huez) and the Iron Man who proposed it (Ed M.). There is plenty of climbing on this challenging hill climb course, even before you reach the Cadillac Mountain auto road! (~6.8 miles)
Note: The ride down the mountain is NOT part of the time trial course. |

| Course Schedule | We alternate each week between the two courses. | |||||

| Note |
This is an organized but informal training ride that makes use of roads in Acadia National Park. The ride is in no way affiliated with the Park. All roads are open to traffic. Riders are expected to obey traffic laws and be respectful of Park property, motorists, and other Park visitors. Being safe and enjoying the ride are most important. Wear your helmet and use care when negotiating turns, especially where motor vehicle traffic is involved. This ride is affiliated with the Downeast Bicycle Club (DBC), however, the DBC is not responsible for any part of the ride.
Be safe, ride hard, and enjoy.
